Basic Plan: The $115.00 USD per year basic satellite service subscription includes:
- ALERT SOS:
Dispatch emergency responders to your exact location. Unlimited usage included.
- CHECK IN:
Let contacts know where you are and that you're okay. Unlimited usage included.
- ASK FOR HELP:
Request help from friends and family at your exact location. Unlimited usage included.
- CUSTOM:
Let contacts know where you are and that you're okay. Unlimited usage included.
Functional Specifications
SPOT features five key functions that enable users to send messages to friends, family or emergency responders, based upon varying levels of need:
- Alert SOS – Dispatch emergency responders to your exact location. SPOT sends one message every 5 minutes until power is depleted or SOS is cancelled.
User programmable buttons (user defined messages):
- Ask for Help – Request help from friends and family in your exact location. SPOT sends one message every 5 minutes for one hour or until Help is cancelled.
- Check In – Let contacts know where you are and that you’re okay. SPOT sends three identical messages to the SPOT service for redundancy. The first of those three messages is delivered.
- Custom – Let contacts know where you are and that you’re okay. SPOT sends three identical messages to the SPOT service for redundancy. The first of those three messages is delivered.
Track Progress – Send and save your location and allow contacts to track your progress using Google Maps™. SPOT sends one message every 10 minutes for 24 hours or until SPOT is powered off.
Coverage
SPOT works around the world, including virtually all of North America, South America, Europe and Australasia, Northern Africa and Northeastern Asia, and hundreds or thousands of miles offshore of these areas. See coverage on www.findspot.co.nz for maps and current coverage.
Battery Life
Includes 3 AAA lithium batteries; under normal usage a full battery charge should meet or exceed the following:
- Power on, unused: Approx. 3 months
- SPOTcasting tracking mode: Approx. 7 days
- SOS mode: Up to 6 consecutive days
- Check In, Custom mode: 700 messages
Please Note: battery life is reduced if used when a view of the sky is obstructed.
